Mighty Tigers, Malawi’s oldest club is one of two teams relegated from the Elite League, with another topflight team to be demoted this weekend.
Tigers have been relegated for the first time in their history after a 1-nil away defeat to Blue Eagles in Lilongwe.
Their coach, Trevor Kajwa, said his team had chances to take all points away, but it was not possible.
The side was founded in 1980. Despite surviving relegation in the past, the team has been struggling.
With one league fixture remaining, Tigers with 30 points is on position 15, second from bottom.
Songwe United, was the first side to be demoted, in 29 games, United picked 6 points.
Mzuzu City Hammers is another team on the verge of relegation. The Hammers are sitting 14th, third from the bottom, and have 28 points from 29 games.
Their next game is against second-placed side FCB Nyasa Big Bullets away. They need to win against Bullets with over 13 goals hoping that Dedza and Mafco FC lose their final games.
Three teams have been promoted to play in the super league, and these are Red Lions, Baka City, and Mitundu Baptist.
