Mo Salah adds to Egypt’s all-time top scorer record with brace

Egyptian Forward Mohamed Salah put his recent struggles with Liverpool behind him on Friday night by scoring a brace for Egypt in their 3-0 win over Niger.

The 30-year-old struck in each half to take him to 49 international goals after just 86 games, extending his tally as all-time top scorer for Egypt.

His opening goal came in the first half after picking up the ball on the left side of the box, past a defender and firing the ball into the far corner from close range. He then added another from the spot in the second half with the third coming through Mostafa Mohamed.

The Liverpool star has so far only scored 2 goals in 6 Premier League games this season in what many pundits have described as a slow start for the Egyptian captain with the Reds who are currently sitting 8th on the log standings.

Salah remains a key player for Egypt despite failing to help his country qualify for the 2022 Qatar FIFA World Cup but Liverpool will hope he takes his recent international form to the Premier League for the Jurgen Klopp-coached side that will face Chelsea after this international break.

Egypt will be back in action on Tuesday against Liberia in another international friendly match and Salah will hope to find himself on the scoresheet again as the two nations prepare for the resumption of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers which were postponed to March next year.
