National Division One leaders Konkola Blades have set their sights on reaching the final of the 2025 ABSA Cup after securing a place in the quarterfinals.
The Chililabombwe-based side booked their spot with a 2-0 win over Provincial Division One side Solwezi Soccer Academy on Saturday in the Round of 16 at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe.

Assistant coach Lewington Mujembe believes his side can go all the way despite not playing in the Super League.
“Our aim is to go to the finals you know Konkola Blades we are campaigning in the National League but we are big team we belong in the Super we are among tye teams who are supposed to win the ABSA CUP,” Mujembe said in a post-match interview.
“We’re Ready For Any Team” – Mujembe.
Blades will face either Zesco United or Barts FC in the quarterfinals.
It was not an easy task for the former Super League champions, with Mujembe admitting that his team struggled against the Provincial League side but promised a better performance against stronger opposition.
“Solwezi Academy we knew it won’t be an easy game they are team which are playing well in the Provincial League they came to express themselves. In the first half we were too fast maybe to find a goal we thought it will Just be a push over but it was a good game,” he said.

Mujembe also downplayed concerns about his team’s lack of patience and composure in front of goal.
“We are not very much in a worry cause we know when we play a big team we can’t be in a hurry like as we have played Solwezi Academy though the mentality of the players they thought it was just a push over. Am sure Playing against a big team it will be a different game,” he added.
Looking ahead to the quarterfinals, Mujembe says his team is ready for any challenge.
“Any team we will meet will be good for us we are ready,” he said.
