CAF proud of Nigeria, South Africa and Morocco

Confederations of Africa Football (CAF) president Patrice Motsepe believes women soccer on the African continent has a promising future.

The advancement of Nigeria, South Africa, and Morocco to the round of 16 is the first time that three African countries have made it that far.

In his letter of congratulations, he praised the teams for their outstanding, historically significant, and well-earned qualification to the World Cup Round of 16.

“CAF congratulates the Women’s teams of Nigeria, Morocco and South Africa for their qualification to the round of 16,” he told cafonline.com.

CAF is proud of their outstanding performance.

“The rest of the African continent, is proud with their outstanding performances and hard-earned victories at the FIFA Women’s world Cup,” reads the statement.

Zambia came in third in Group C behind two of the strongest teams in the competition, Japan and Spain.

For the first time ever, Africa will have three nations competing in a senior World Cup for both men and women.

Nigeria will face England and Morocco will face France, South Africa and the Netherlands will square off.
