In a tribute to his former captain Tapson Kaseba, Green Eagles goalie Given Kaambila called him a humble player who brought the team together.

Tapson Kaseba died on the 3rd of September, 2025, at the University Teaching Hospital after a short illness.

Last season, Kaseba was redeployed under the Zambia National Service in Kafue district until his death.

Kaseba played for several clubs, including Kansanshi Dynamos, Kabwe Warriors, Green Eagles, Napsa Stars, Buildcon, and Konkola Blades.

He made a name for himself at Green Eagles, where he scored 18 goals and came out as the second top scorer.

It was during that period that he earned a national team call-up under Aggrey Chiyangi, and he went on to score in the 2019 COSAFA Cup final against Botswana, where Zambia won 1-0.

On the other hand, he helped Eagles secure Continental football in 2018 and 2020, respectively.

He was once upon a time the Green Eagles captain and was named most disciplined player.

Speaking to Bolanews exclusively, Kaambila paid tribute to his former captain.

“He was humble and always jovial. A friendly captain and senior player who always united the team.

“He was more than my big brother; he was my best friend. We shared the pitch, ridiculous jokes, and conversations that lasted into the night,” he said.

“I am grateful for the memories, the laughter, and the bond we built from the earliest days at Green Eagles. You gave me courage when I needed it, challenged me when I doubted myself, and reminded me what loyalty really means to serve under ZNS,” Kaambila said.
