Mines United’s head coach, Geoffrey Hamakwenda, says the team is not under any pressure and is focused on improving.

Mines United is currently in fifth place with 37 points from 23 matches, having won 10, drawn seven, and lost six.

If Hamakwenda’s boys are to be promoted to the Super League, they must finish in the top four league standings.

The Kabwe-based side defeated Leopards Hill last weekend, and they will look to keep their winning streak going this weekend when they play at home.

Speaking to Bolanews exclusively, Hamakwenda said that the team will not be under pressure but will focus on winning games.

“I think for now we just need to concentrate instead of putting ourselves under pressure. We just have to remain focused and concentrate on planning for our next fixtures,” he said.

The Mines United coach also stated that the team is working on improving their frontline.

“We are working on finishing with the strikers and also working on the balancing and communication with the defense. Yes, we have been scoring fewer goals and we are working on that during training.”

Mines United will face River Plate in their next National Division One fixture this Sunday at the Railway Stadium in Kabwe.

“We are ready for them; looking at the team we are facing, they are in good form; they have played about six games without a loss. Otherwise, it’s not going to be an easy game, but we are ready for them,” said Hamakwenda.
