Relegation-bound Prison Leopards have hired veteran coach Elijah Chikwanda as their technical director, until the end of the season.
Chikwanda joins the Kabwe based side after being club less since he parted ways with Chambishi Football club.
Lameck Banda will continue as head coach with Bupe Chewe and Collins Mulenga as first and second assistant coaches.
He comes in with vast experience as he has previously coached Kabwe Warriors Nkwazi and Green Eagles football clubs. The club issued a statement confirming his appointment.
“The Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Elijah Chikwanda as Technical Director until the end of the 2023-24 season,”
“The club remains committed to securing the team’s status in the top flight league and these latest developments underline the determination to achieve this objective,” read part of the statement.
Prison needs eight points from the remaining matches, hoping other teams drop points to stand a chance of surviving relegation.
“With the team’s current position on the log, this move aims at helping the Club’s efforts to fight away from relegation zone”
His first assignment will be on Sunday at Shinde Stadium when Leopards travel to Mufulira Wanderers for their Week 30 fixture match.
