Zambian Super League side, Zanaco Football Club have also failed to secure the services of Malawian striker Christopher Jacama Kumwembe.
In a letter seen by BolaNews dated August 15, 2023, and signed by their chief executive officer, Modest Hamalabbi, the Bankers expressed interest in signing Kumwembe, who plays for Mighty Mukuru Wanderers in Malawi.
“Zanaco Football Club hereby writes to express interest in acquiring the services of Christopher Kumwembe from your club on outright purchase or loan,” read part of the letter, which was addressed to Wanderer’s chief executive officer Roosevelt Mpinganjira.
Zanaco’s interest followed that of the Green Buffaloes, who had also approached the Malawian club for the player but failed as the team said the player was not for sale after pricing him at $80,000.

However, BolaNews sources have revealed that Wanderers did not respond to Zanaco’s interest despite the Zambian club following up on the matter.
In a telephone interview with BolaNews in Malawi, Mpinganjira said they have not changed their stand and that the player is not for sale.
“We have not changed our stand; Kumwembe is not for sale, so I cannot say much about it.
“We spoke to the coach [Mark Harrison], and he said he has plans with the player. So, we cannot sell him.”
Kumwembe has been a center of attraction for a lot of teams in Africa following his performance at the last Cosafa Cup, where he scored a goal in three games.
He joined Wanderers this year from Civil Service United FC and signed a three-year deal.
