ZESCO United have officially appointed Mwenya Chipepo as the club’s new head coach, with experienced coach Tenant Chembo returning as first assistant.
Chipepo takes charge of the nine-time Zambian champions after leaving Nkana midway through last season, when he was placed on forced administrative leave following the Kitwe side’s poor run of results in the MTN Super League.
The coach has previously managed Power Dynamos, Prison Leopards, Indeni and Forest Rangers. He also guided Power Dynamos to the league title.
ZESCO United have also confirmed the return of Chembo, who previously served on the club’s technical bench.
Chembo was part of the ZESCO United technical setup that won the 2016 Barclays Cup, now known as the ABSA Cup, as well as the 2017 Super League title.
He has also coached Mufulira Wanderers, Lumwana Radiants, Forest Rangers, Indeni and Ndola United.
ZESCO United said the appointments form part of the club’s preparations for success and its commitment to building a strong, professional and competitive technical structure.

- Winston Kalengo – Physical Trainer
- Kondwani Mtonga – Physical Trainer
- Jacob Banda – Goalkeeper Trainer
- Simon Silwimba – Equipment Manager
- Kabamba Kalande – Team Manager
- Abidan Chansa – Team Doctor
- Stephen Mbewe – Team Clinician
ZESCO United will be hoping the new technical setup can deliver success as the club seeks to strengthen its squad, improve its competitiveness and challenge for major honours.
