Chipolopolo Boys duo to face UCL Champions Manchester City

Two Chipolopolo boys Klings Kangwa and Miguel Chaiwa, , will have a unique opportunity to play on the other side of the field when their teams face off in the 2023–24 UEFA Champions’ League group stage.

Kangwa’s Red Star Belgrade will clash horns with Chaiwa’s BSC Young Boys in Group G, which also comprises RB Leipzig of Germany and treble champions Manchester City.

UEFA Champions’ league defending champions Manchester City will commence their title defense against Crvena Zvezda, BSC Young Boys, and RB Leipzig as per Thursday’s draw in Monaco.

Kangwa’s side will host Chaiwa at the Rajko Mitic stadium before the latter welcomes the former at the Wankdorf stadium.

The draw also featured a number of riveting matchups, with Bayern Munich and Manchester United set to square off in Group A.

Meanwhile, Osihmen’s Napoli will face the daunting task against UEFA Champions League record holders Real Madrid.

Kylian Mbappe’s Paris Saint-Germain will be alongside Borussia Dortmund, AC Milan, and Newcastle in what looks to be this season’s Group of Death.

Haaland gets ahead of Messi.

The night concluded with UEFA dishing out awards to the most outstanding football figures in the last 12 months.

FIFA World Cup all-time top scorer Miroslav Klose walked away with the UEFA President’s Award. Following Pep Guardiola’s iconic treble-winning campaign, won the UEFA Men’s Coach of the Year, as Sarina Wiegmann claimed gold in the women’s category.

Manchester City star Erling Haaland grabbed the UEFA Men’s Player of the Year ahead of Lionel Messi and Kevin de Bruyne. Meanwhile, World Cup and Champions League winner Aitana Bonmati was the UEFA Women’s Player of the Year.
