When CAPS United takes on already-relegated Kwekwe United on Sunday in the Premier Soccer League season finale, head coach Ian Bakala has urged his team to end the season on a positive note.

Makepekepe secured their top-flight status last week after reaching 40 points from 33 matches, guaranteeing their place in next season’s Premier Soccer League despite a difficult start to the season.

Bakala says the final match is just as important as any other, stressing that the team wants to repay supporters with a winning finish.

“People may think this game is not important for us, but it is. It’s important how we are going to end despite how the team started from the beginning, and the last games are always tough,” he said.

The CAPS boss acknowledged the struggles earlier in the season but praised his side’s resilience.

“We didn’t start well, but we fought, and we just have to finish well so that we make the supporters happy” he said. “This week I think we will give them a good result.”

Bakala also provided an injury update, confirming long-term absences of Kundai and Bruce, while Tanaka, who had been out for an extended period, has returned to training and may feature depending on fitness.

The coach further thanked club president Farai Jere for what he described as unwavering support throughout the season.

“We have to thank the president of the team… He has done his best and gave me and the team support, which I didn’t expect. We hope to do much better next season,” he said.
