Power Dynamos, Napsa Stars register convincing victories

Aba Yellow hitman Andy Boyeli missed a penalty, but Dynamos showed positive character to recover and secure maximum points.

Power Dynamos, the defending champions, overcame Kansanshi Dynamos 3-1 on Sunday at Kitwe’s Arthur Davies stadium after falling behind by a goal. Likewise, Napsa Stars defeated Mutondo Stars 3-2 with ease.

Marvin Jere scored the game’s first goal for Kansanshi in the 16th minute of the match between the two Dynamos teams, keeping the score at 1-0 till halftime.

Salulani Phiri scored his first goal of the season after the restart to tie the game two minutes into the second half after Andy Boyeli missed a penalty.

Shortly after Kansanshi’s Djo Ntambwe received a straight red card while on the replacement bench, Joshua Mutale gave the Premier League Champions the game’s first lead.

Phiri then completed his brace in the 80th minute from long range to seal victory for Aba Yellow.

In Lusaka at Woodlands stadium, Osmond Chita gave Mutondo stars the lead in the first minute of the second half, however, Musonda Kapembwa, Adams Zikuru, and Simon Nkhata helped Napsa Stars build a convincing 3-1 lead.

Deep into extra time, the team from the Copperbelt managed to score one goal to bring the score 3-2, but it was too little, too late to spur a third.
