Zanaco Head Coach Numba Mumamba says the team’s current form will make it difficult for opponents to dethrone them from the top of the league standings.
The Bankers edged Konkola Blades 1-0 in their Week Eight fixture at Konkola Stadium on Sunday to maintain their lead at the summit of the log.
Brian Kabika scored the only goal of the match in the 81st minute to hand Zanaco another crucial victory.
The Bankers remain unbeaten in eight matches, recording five wins and three draws, and currently top the league table with 18 points.
Since the start of the 2025–26 season, the Bankers have shown tremendous improvement under coach Numba, who has transformed the team from relegation contenders into genuine title challengers.
“It won’t be an easy thing to remove us on the top of the Log because Zanaco is not the same team that we had last season and that is why we are able to pick results — it’s because of the good players that we have brought in. I think we have a crop of young players who are determined and want to make a name,” he said.
Numba added that the team is focused on maintaining their current form and meeting their season objectives.
“For us our objective is to make sure that we work against our own targets that we have set for ourselves. We are not supposed to look at how Red Arrows, Power Dynamos, or these other teams are performing. If we can win our own games, then it will be easy for us to achieve the objectives that we have for ourselves,” noted Numba.
The former Zesco United boss also disclosed that the team’s immediate goal is to qualify for the ABSA Cup.
“It’s a motivation on our part. Our aim is to make sure that we qualify to play in the ABSA Cup because it’s been a while since we participated in the ABSA Cup. So our primary objective is to make sure that in the first round we work hard so that we are among the teams that will be playing in the ABSA Cup,” added Numba.
Meanwhile, Zanaco will face Mutondo Stars in their next Super League fixture.
