Nchanga Rangers’ First Assistant Coach, Boyd Mulwanda, believes the team’s chances of avoiding relegation have been revitalized following their 2-0 victory over Nkana FC this past weekend.

The Chingola-based side secured their sixth win of the season, showing resilience and determination after a difficult run. Prior to this victory, Nchanga Rangers had gone five consecutive games without a win, a run that had seen them drop into the relegation zone of the league standings.

Despite the recent struggles, Nchanga Rangers started the season strong, even sitting in the top four of the league table early on, before slipping out of the top six. With just nine games remaining before the season concludes, Mulwanda feels the team’s hopes of survival have been reignited.

In an interview, Mulwanda expressed his satisfaction with the team’s fighting spirit and performance against Nkana.

“I’m happy with how the boys have been fighting. As you know, we were under a lot of pressure, but the way we played against Nkana gives us hope that we can survive,” said Mulwanda.

We’ve not been able to score- Mulwanda

The assistant coach also pointed out that while the team’s performance hasn’t been poor overall, their inability to convert chances has been a major issue.

“In all the games we’ve played, we’ve been creating chances, but we haven’t been able to score,” he added.

Mulwanda acknowledged the unwavering support from the fans, who have been a driving force behind the team’s efforts.

“The fans have been incredible; they’ve put the team in the position where it should be. They come in numbers to cheer us on, and they shouldn’t give up on us,” he concluded.
