However, several reports suggest that Yanga SC are poised to sign the 29-year-old, who missed his club’s 1-1 draw against Nkwazi yesterday.
Musonda is said to have halted training and left Dynamos camp in order to force a move from the club, as they were reluctant to let him go during this transfer window so that he could help them win the league.
The Tanzania club is reportedly offering Musonda a monthly salary of over $ 6, 000 dollars (about k109,504.68).
Sources from Power Dynamos have confirmed to BolaNews that the club has given up on its plan to hold on to the player after he left camp last week.
“Yes, Kennedy is close to leaving Power Dynamos. Clearly, the team is willing to let him go due to the fact that he stopped training and left camp in order to force the move,” revealed the source. “That’s why he wasn’t even in yesterday’s game against Nkwazi.”
Regarding whether Dynamos tried to entice him to stay with a pay raise, the source claimed that the offers he received were far higher than what the Zambian league leaders had offered to pay him.
“As you may be aware, the club indicated that they would only let him go because he told the club that the offer that he was given was too much to resist. Yes, despite being a top earner at Power Dynamos, the offers both from TP Mazembe and Yanga are several times more.”
Musonda has 11 goals so far this season in the Zambian league, which has been crucial for Dynamos’ ability to hold onto the top spot in the league standings with 36 points after 18 games.
If the former Green Eagles and Zanaco striker completes his move out of Kitwe, it will be a similar tale to Green Buffaloes’ loss of their star striker Friday Samu to South Africa’s Maritzburg United during the January transfer window last season.
