This follows a letter from Buffaloes expressing interest in signing Kumwembe on loan or a permanent deal, which was sent to the Malawi club last month.

In the letter, which BolaNews has seen, Buffaloes had asked Wanderers to enter into negotiations about Kumwembe’s transfer.

However, speaking to BolaNews on Tuesday in Blantyre, Wanderer’s chief executive officer Roosevelt Mpinganjira said the club indeed received a letter from Buffaloes, but a communication was sent after some time.

“We sat down and looked into what they had presented. So, we agreed to write to them and tell them that the said player is not for sale,” he said.

Mpinganjira said the club also plays an advisory role for the player, so they advised him not to be disturbed.

“We talked to the player, and following that, we wrote to the club telling them that the player is not for sale and we did not enter into any discussion,” he added.

Earlier, Bolanews sources revealed that Wanderers had communicated to Buffaloes that if they wanted Kumwembe, then they had to cough up $80,000.

“It appears that Buffaloes cannot manage to spend that much. They were negotiating to see to it that the amount dropped. If that failed, they wanted the striker on loan for a year,” a source told BolaNews.

Buffaloes spotted Kumwembe at this year’s Cosafa Cup which Zambia won.

He played all games and scored a goal for the Malawi national football team, which reached the regional tournament’s semifinals.
