Zesco United FC interim coach, Winston Kalengo has expressed disappointment at the team’s scoring rate in their last three super league matches.
Zesco United played out to a 1-1 stalemate against FC Leopards at the Trade Fair Grounds on Wednesday afternoon.
The nine-time league champions are coming from the back of another draw they recorded against Napsa Stars the previous week.
Zesco United have recorded three consecutive draws.
The Ndola-based side currently are 11th on the log with 37 points from 29 matches.
Speaking to the club’s media in an interview, Kalengo says his boys are failing to convert scoring opportunities.
“Another difficult match against a team that is fighting in relegation. Just like the previous games, very difficult. Yes, I can’t be satisfied with the results.“
“But, you know, it’s always difficult when you’re playing a team that is fighting in relegation. They are closing all the spaces. I think it’s just like the previous game that we played,” said Kalengo.
“But I think we could have done much better. We missed our chances. This is a game of slim opportunities“
“I think what is important when you’re playing these kinds of games, especially in the second round, is you just have to make use of your chances. So we didn’t utilize our chances, and unfortunately it’s a draw again. Like you said, playing a team that is fighting in relegation is never easy,” he noted.
The former Zesco United striker says he will work on the conversion rate in the upcoming games.
“Maybe in the final third we are trying to push. Maybe we are not doing much in the final third. I think that’s where we need to work on more in the final third,” he added.
