Green Eagles winless in six games, Hachipuka blames strikers

Green Eagles coach Kebby Hachipuka believes the team needs to improve their scoring ability, as they have not scored in their last four matches.

Nkana defeated the Green Eagles 1-0, thanks to a 45th-minute goal from Clement Mwape.

The loss dropped the Eagles to tenth place, with 31 points from 24 games played.

However, the Eagles have failed to collect maximum points in their previous five matches, losing 12 points in total.

The Choma-based side has only managed to win seven games, draw ten, and lose seven matches, scoring 21 goals and conceding 21.

Reacting after Sunday’s match, Hachipuka admitted that losing to Nkana was painful because his team missed a lot of chances.

“It is a painful defeat; indeed, I think we lost concentration in the last 10 minutes. We just have to blame ourselves; we didn’t utilize the chances we created. We lost it in the first half; we had three clear chances, but we couldn’t put the ball behind the net,” he said.

The Green Eagles boss hopes the strikers will improve and become clinical in front of goal.

“We need to work on our strikers because we have gone five games and they only managed to score one goal, which is worrying,” added Hachipuka.

Eagles will host Athletico Lusaka in their Week 25 fixture at the Choma Independence Stadium on Saturday.
