France and Paris Saint Germain(PSG) forward Ousmane Dembélé has been crowned 2025 Ballon d’Or winner at the Théâtre du Châtelet.

The 28-year-old beat Barcelona and Spain’s Lamine Yamal to the top prize at the Paris ceremony, receiving football’s most prestigious individual honour from Ronaldinho.

Dembélé was visibly emotional during his acceptance speech, breaking down in tears as he thanked his mother, who joined him on stage.

In the women’s category, Barcelona and Spain star Aitana Bonmatí won the Ballon d’Or for the third consecutive year, edging Mariona Caldentey and Alessia Russo to the award.

Despite Spain’s defeat to England in the Euro 2025 final and Barcelona’s Champions League loss to Arsenal, Bonmatí’s brilliance shone through. The 27-year-old was named the best player at both the Euros and the Champions League last season, becoming the first player to win the award three times since its introduction in 2018.
