ZWSL WRAP: Zesco Ndola Girls, ZISD Ladies dominate top scorer’s chart

Last season golden boot winner and former Copper Queens striker Xiomala Mapepa is trailing in fourth position on the scorer's log.

Zesco Ndola Girls and ZISD Football Club players are dominating the top scorers’ chart in the Zambian Women’s Super League, making it a fierce competition for the golden boot.

Charity Mubanga of Zesco Ndola Girls, the team that appears focused to ending the Green Buffaloes’ dominance in the women’s league this season, is first on the scoring table with 22 goals.

As of Week 21, BolaNews presents a round-robin of the top five scorers for the rankings.

With 21 games completed, Zesco Ndola Girls leads the league table with 54 points, ahead of Green Buffaloes with 52. The former Nkana Queens striker has had an amazing start to the 2023–24 Super League.

Lungowe Namasiku – ZISD FC

ZESCO Ndola Girls, Indeni Roses, and Green Buffaloes are the top three scoring teams, with ZISD Women Football Club coming in at number six in the standings.

In a 4-2 demolition of Luyando Foundation on February 11, 2024, Namasiku increased her tally to 14 goals for her club.

Vitumbiko Mkandawire has the most spectacular goals.

Her goal-scoring prowess recently earned her a Copper Queens provisional squad callup for the 2024 Olympic Games qualifiers.

Avell Chitundu-ZESCO Ndola Girls FC

The Copper Queens midfielder is in impeccable form for the Ndola side, as she has consistently come to the rescue of the team with her goals for a team that has lost just one match this season. She has scored 13 goals in 19 matches.

Xiomala Mapepa – Elite Ladies

Mapepa, the Golden Boot winner from the previous season despite not starting in some matches, she has scored twelve goals, and she is in fourth position on the chart.

Mercy Vitumbiko Mkandawire – ZISD FC

The Malawian forward has proven to be a good goal-poacher for ZISD FC scoring 11 times in the season.

Of all the top 5 scorers, Mkandawire has scored the most spectacular goals, mostly from long range.
