The Zambia Under-17 Women’s National Team will join the 2024 FIFA Under-17 World Cup qualifiers in the third round as revealed by the CAF official draw last Thursday.
Zambia’s only participation at the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup was in 2014 in Costa Rica. The Copper Princesses joined the fray at the third round of the previous qualifiers.
The 2024 qualifiers will be played over five rounds. The first round pits the Central African Republic against Mauritius in September.
The Copper Princesses will have to wait for the third round of qualifiers in May 2024. They will be up against Tanzania between 10-12 May 2024 for the first leg.
The return leg will be held between 17 and 19 May 2024. The victor in the two-legged match will play the winner between Cameroon and Uganda in the fourth round.

A match-up between Zambia and Cameroon in the fourth round will potentially set the Copper Princesses for revenge. They lost to Cameroon 5-0 on aggregate in the 2022 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.
On the other hand, Tanzania qualified for their maiden FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup in India at the expense of Cameroon. The East Africans thrashed Cameroon 5-1 on aggregate.
The final round officially takes place between 7 – 9 June for the first legs before the official decider of the three nations that will represent Africa takes place between 14 – 16 June 2024.
