With just a few weeks until the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) begins in Morocco, the DR Congo is preparing to put on a spectacular show.
The Congolese, however, will face Morocco, Zambia, and Senegal, the tournament’s hosts, so the road will not be simple.
DR Congo’s 2025 WAFCON tournament campaign will start with a challenging matchup against Senegal.
In their fourth tournament appearance, the Congolese will be hoping to take home their first continental crown.
But as they prepare to play in the tournament, DR Congo goalkeeper Fideline Ngoy shares her views ahead of the tournament.
“We are very excited as we are preparing for this tournament to win and not just for the fun aspect. We are not going there to add numbers, but we are going there for serious business,” she told Cafonline in an interview.
Having made her debut at the 2012 African Women’s Championship, the 34-year-old goalkeeper is a vital member of the DR Congo Women’s National team.
Ngoy will be looking to repeat her success with the national team after she and the Congolese Giants TP Mazembe won the CAF Women’s Champions League.
In the meanwhile, the WAFCON competition will start on July 5 and run through July 26, 2025.
