Nigeria Women’s National Team reached the knockout stage of the ongoing FIFA Women’s world Cup after drawing two of their games against Canada, Northern Ireland.

The African representative later overcame co-host Australia 3-2 to set up a tie against European side, England on Monday.

After South Africa was eliminated by Netherlands on Sunday with a 2-0 loss, the Super Falcons, who are competing in their ninth World Cup, are still in the competition alongside Morocco.

Nigeria Women’s coach Randy Waldrum believes that a victory over the Lionesses could be huge, but he said that the Super Falcons have already exceeded expectations.

“It would be a huge win, obviously, with what we have accomplished, Nigeria is buzzing again from what I understand, and I don’t think people expected us to get out of the group,” Waldrum said to reporters prior to tomorrow’s matchup against England.

And the Super Falcon coach has praised his players for staying focused on always getting the much-needed results.

The Super Falcons’ best result at a World Cup was a quarterfinal berth in 1999, and they’ll be aiming to beat that mark by reaching the tournament’s last eight tomorrow.
