Copper Queens striker Fridah Mukoma has expressed confidence in her club, Beijing Jingtan, going all the way in the 2025 Chinese Women’s Super League.

The Mwinilunga product has taken the Chinese women’s topflight by storm, putting up stellar performances in China.

Mukoma was signed by National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) side Kansas City Current from ZESCO Ndola Girls in a deal running through the 2028 season. She was immediately loaned to Beijing Jingtan and will represent them in 2025 before moving to the United States.

The 18-year-old’s debut for Beijing Jingtan in last week’s encounter against Chongqing Yongchuan was the stuff of dreams. Taking to the field as a substitute, the Copper Queens star tapped into her element in the 62nd minute, executing a sensational bicycle kick to break the deadlock.

Fifteen minutes later, Mukoma was on hand to make the score 3-0, dispossessing the last defender before making a lonely run towards the goal and netting past the opposition goalkeeper.

On Saturday, Beijing Jingtan named her in their starting XI for the first time as they took on Barbra Banda’s former club, Shanghai RCB. With her side leading 1-0 in the 94th minute, Mukoma was the recipient of a sensational long-range diagonal pass from teammate Wang Xinling.

After controlling the ball, the Zambian cut inside and struck the ball emphatically from outside the box. The opposition goalkeeper’s gloves could not stop the powerful shot as it landed in the net.

Mukoma’s Impressive Stats in China

Following the match, Mukoma was crowned the official Player of the Match (POTM) after scoring her third goal in just two games for Beijing Jingtan so far.

When quizzed about how it felt to walk away with the accolade in a post-match interview, Mukoma replied, “I am very happy.” She added further enthused, “I am very ready for the next match. We [Beijing Jingtan] want to win the league.”

Beijing Jingtan is currently second in the 2025 Chinese Women’s Super League standings on eight points, one behind Shandong Sports Lottery after four matches.

All eyes are on Mukoma right now, who is not only looking to impress her parent club but also the new Copper Queens boss, Nora Häuptle. She starred for Zambia at the 2024 COSAFA Women’s Championship last year, finishing as the tournament’s joint-top scorer with four goals.

Mukoma will be hoping to earn a place in the squad for this year’s Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
