Konkola Blades Queens interim head coach Chipulu Chileya is targeting a winning start to the new ZPL Women’s Super Division season when they face Amazing Grace on September 26.
Chileya says the team has made excellent progress during pre-season, with preparations focused on fitness, technical ability, tactical understanding, and team cohesion.
“Looking at the preparations, we are focusing mainly on fitness, technical ability, tactical understanding, and team cohesion.”
Current state, “We have made good progress in terms of what I talked about: fitness, technical ability, tactical understanding, and team cohesion,” he said.
“So far so good; we are happy with what we are doing, the positive response we are getting from the players. These players are working very hard, and I’m pretty sure we are ready to kick-start the league.”
Chileya has also promised supporters that the team will fight for the result they want, beginning with the opening fixture against Amazing Grace.
“Our message to the supporters is they should just continue running behind us and we’ll do the needful. We know what they want from us; it is only a win, and I’m pretty sure we are going to do that,” he said.
“We are going to deliver; we are going to give them the win and make them smile at the end of the day.”
Chileya says the focus will then shift to each subsequent fixture as the season progresses.
“More especially, starting with the first game, from there we’ll pick it up and plan for the next and the coming games,” he said.
Konkola Blades Queens will therefore look to translate their pre-season progress into a positive league start when they meet Amazing Grace on September 26.
