Bay FC striker Racheal Kundananji has demanded for more international friendlies for the Copper Queens ahead of the 2026 WAFCON tournament in Morocco.

On Tuesday, Zambia were crowned champions of the Three-Nations Tournament in Lilongwe, following a convincing 3-1 victory over Zimbabwe.

Kundananji, voted the player of the tournament, stressed the need for tougher tests ahead of WAFCON.

“We knew taking a point against Malawi meant it was down to us and Zimbabwe. Our only aim was to win—and we did.”

Kundananji, one of Zambia’s most experienced attackers, highlighted the importance of integrating young talent into the senior setup.

“It’s important to have young players so we can groom the next generation,” she said. “We won’t play forever. We need to leave a strong national team behind, not let it collapse after this golden generation.”

She also called on the technical bench to seek higher-level opposition.

Zambia’s WAFCON preparations and full roadmap is expected in the coming weeks.

“I would love to see challenging games—big teams that press for 90 minutes, teams that make us suffer to get the ball. That’s how we measure our progress and the shape of the team,” she stated.
