The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has provisionally suspended one official and three Bauleni United Sports Academy (BUSA) Football Club players for misconduct pending investigations.
This follows violent scenes during the close of the FAZ week 31 women’s super league match between the home side BUSA FC against Green Eagles FC at Crested Crane Academy grounds. The visitors won the match 2-1.
Those suspended include BUSA FC Secretary General Fred Kangwa and three players namely, Gertrude Mfumba, Sheila Namuzungu, and Grace Phiri. The quartet is reported to have physically attacked the center referee, the assistant referee, and a Green Eagles media officer.
Speaking in a telephone interview with BolaNews, BUSA FC Vice Secretary Kenneth Mafuta expressed disappointment with the decision made by FA.
“Firstly, FAZ has not carried out any investigations rather than rely on social media or hearsay. It would have been better to summon both parties and hear their sides of the story.”
“Before sanctioning the three players and our official, FAZ should have first investigated the matter,” said Mafuta.
Mafuta said the team will appeal the suspension of their players and club secretary general.
“We are not happy with the decision, and we shall appeal,” concluded Mafuta.
“The four suspended officials will not be allowed to participate in any football
related activities until the disciplinary process have been exhausted in respect of
article 53 (4) of the Disciplinary Code,” said FAZ acting General Secretary, Iva Lengwe.

Lengwe added that article 49 of the FAZ Disciplinary Code of 2021 covers conduct against match
officials during and after a football match.
Meanwhile, BUSA FC is 14th on the league table with 28 points having played 31 games played so far.
