Following Paris Saint-Germain’s exit from the UEFA Champions League, French forward Kylian Mbappe discussed his much-debated future.
The French champions went to the Allianz Arena trying to overturn a 1-0 deficit from the first leg. However, after an evenly contested first half, Cameroonian striker Choupo Moting profited from an error by Marco Veratti to double the aggregate advantage in the 61st minute.
Bayern Munich put the tie to bed with an explosive transition that saw substitutes Joao Cancelo and Serge Gnabry combine for the latter’s goal.
The blockbuster tie ended with the German outfits claiming a comfortable 3-0 aggregate win over Paris Saint-Germain.
For the French club, this meant another season without winning the Champions League despite the heavily-funded Qatari takeover in 2012. Astonishingly, they have been booted out of the last 16 for two consecutive years.
Whats next for Mbappe at PSG?
Mbappe’s future now hangs in the balance after another unsuccessful attempt to claim the elusive Champions League title. The former AS Monaco man has been massively linked to Real Madrid throughout his career.
Over the last year, PSG and Real Madrid have been engaged in a tug-of-war over the signature of the Frenchman. However, in the summer, the French side handed him the biggest contract in football at the time, allowing him to remain at the Parc de Princes until 2025.
But looking at PSG and Real Madrid’s contrasting fortunes in the Champions League, Mbappe’s future in Paris is uncertain.
At only 24 years old, the tricky winger has won the lot but is still yet to taste Champions League glory.
Speaking after the match, English pundit Jamie Carragher advised, “He’s got to leave. The quicker he is at Real Madrid, the better.”

When quizzed on whether elimination from the Champions League meant his exit from PSG, Mbappe responded, “No, no, I’m calm; the only thing that matters to me this season is to win Ligue 1 now, and then we’ll see.”
“At the moment, I’m only talking about this season. Nothing else matters to me. We are disappointed,” he added.
However, the 2022 World Cup golden boot winner’s move to Real Madrid is a matter of “when” and not “if.” Most fans and pundits alike feel that this would be the next huge step in the Frenchman’s career.
Everything seems to be going south for PSG, as Lionel Messi and Neymar Jr. have also been constantly linked to moves away from the French capital.
