FCB Nyasa Big Bullets, the defending champions who won all trophies last season, earned a point away from the central region with a 1-1 draw against Dedza Dynamos.
Bullets have not taken all points in Dedza since 2012. They have drawn twice, and all of their games have ended in defeat.
Nobody gave them a chance to win in Dedza based on their past records. Despite being the first team to score at 38 minutes through Ephraim Kondowe, the visitors conceded just before halftime through Promise Kamwendo at 62 minutes.
After the match, Bullets head coach Kallisto Pasuwa was furious, claiming that officiating had cost them crucial points.

Kamuzu Barracks also held another giant, Mighty Mukuru Wanderers, to a 1-1 draw at Kamuzu Stadium.
Wanderers’ first goal came from a header by Jacama Kumwembe off a Stanly Sanudi free kick.
However, the home team, which had replaced Mark Harrison with Burundian coach Nsanzurwimo Ramadhan, was forced to settle for a one-all. They conceded in the second half following a Zeliet Nkhoma rebound.
Wanderers fans were outraged by the outcome, as Ramadhan promised a positive start to the season.
The coach shocked everyone when claimed that his side lost because they were under pressure after their rival Bullets had played before them.
“The catchup games are difficult; Bullets played yesterday and Wanderers is playing today which is a problem,” he said.
Lilongwe giant Silver Strikers were the only big side to collect maximum points at home. They defeated Chitipa United 2-0.
