His departure to Saudi Arabia for a transfer fee reportedly in the region of £4 million, while he was at the pinnacle of his career under Michael Beale, has drawn conflicting reactions from Zambian and Rangers fans.

Sakala, who scored 24 goals with 15 assists in 91 appearances, also won the Scottish Cup title with the Gers.

Following the news of his departure, some fans have taken to social media to criticize the club.

‘Only Steven Gerrald appreciated him’

A Twitter user, @Sibs01 wrote, “He wore the badge with pride. Only Gerrard appreciated him. Giovanni took him out in the Europa Finals when it was time for penalties. He didn’t know he was one of the best penalty-takers. The sub was subbed. 14 goals last season as #10 or #11. Let’s see if the new plumbers you signed will get 10 goals.”

‘The club has made a mistake‘

“In my opinion, the club is making a serious mistake in letting this player go. I really hope this is not a decision that is going to cost us going forward.”- wrote @Gruffzilla

‘Shameful’

@alastairmacleo1 also said, “The only player we had with a genuine end product in the final third in big games. Should not have been allowed to leave. Shameful.”

‘Rangers wanted money more than Sakala’

“You signed him for free, but you loved money more than him and forced him on this transfer. Shame on you Rangers.” – charged @leko_lako

‘Saudi is no longer just for money; it’s becoming competitive”

“To be honest, as the day goes by, it’s very difficult to call Saudi Arabia a place just for the money. The quality and quantity of signings they have made are actually starting to compete with the mid-level European leagues,” –@Vikwato

‘Secure the bag’

“Good financial move, securing the bag!”- @Mikembuzee noted.
