City of Lusaka’s failure to defeat Mpulungu Harbour resulted in Trident football club securing promotion to the Zambian super league without kicking a ball.

It is a done deal for the North-western-province based team to finish in the top four with a five-point lead on the log and four games to go.

Trident FC has 59 points, followed by Mufulira Wanderers in second with 54 points.

Under Coach Israel Mwanza, the conquerors have been a dominant side winning 17, drawing 8, and losing 5.

The trio of City of Lusaka, Zesco Malaiti Rangers, and Young Green Buffaloes also have high chances to win promotion.

Trident FC will become the third North-western Province to compete in the super league after Lumwana Radiants and Kansanshi Dynamos.

This afternoon, the Kalumbila-based team takes on Atletico Lusaka to secure the national league championship.

Following failure by fifth placed City of Lusaka FC, Kafue Eagles FC and Young Green Buffaloes to pick up maximum points means the conquerors will play elite football next season.
