Former Chipolopolo striker Collins Mbesuma has advised Roan United players to remain humble and embrace hard work if they are to help the team bounce back to the MTN Super League.

The National Division One side has been making headlines this season, establishing itself as a strong contender in the 2025/26 campaign.

Roan United currently top the table with 19 points out of a possible 21, having recorded six wins and one draw. The former Super League champions remain unbeaten, scoring 10 goals and conceding just once in their opening seven matches.

Speaking exclusively to BolaNews, Mbesuma, a former Roan United forward himself, urged the team to stay focused on the club’s objectives.

“What I can say at the moment to the players let them be humble because the season is long, this is just the beginning I think they have played six or seven games so they should work hard,” Mbesuma said.

He continued: “There is a mission and a target I think as Roan United to come to the Premier league. I am very excited to see how people have been supporting them in the National Division One what more in the Super league.”

He also praised the squad for their progress so far.

“I also want to congraluate the players who helped the team bounce back to the National League. Am in contact with them to find out how the team is doing, also I have players from the Collins Mbesuma academy who are also playing for Roan United. It’s there on the social media my two kids are also playing there, I just wish them the best and to stay humble and work hard,” noted the former Chipolopolo Boys forward.

Mbesuma, whose sons, Linerker and Morientes Kajiya, are also part of the Roan United squad, featured for the Luanshya-based club from 2003 to 2004 before moving abroad to join Kaizer Chiefs.

They are targeting a return to the Super League after a lengthy absence from top-flight football.
