Chirundu United striker and current FAZ Men’s National League top scorer, Philimon Chilimina, has brushed aside talks of eyeing the league’s golden boot, saying his focus is on helping his team during their debut season in Zambia’s second-tier league.

In an exclusive interview with BolaNews, Chilimina, who has scored eight goals in 18 matches—one ahead of Kansanshi Dynamos’ Dalitso Lungu and River Plate’s Golden Zansi—shared his perspective.

“For me, I am not competing with anyone. The most important thing to me is to see my team winning,” said Chilimina.

Chirundu United has had a challenging start to life in the league, winning five matches, drawing six, and losing seven. The team has scored 18 goals so far, averaging one goal per match, with Chilimina’s contribution standing out as a key factor.

He revealed that scoring goals doesn’t add pressure to his performances but instead inspires him to push harder. “Personally, scoring goals doesn’t give me pressure, but it only motivates me to work extra hard going into matches,” he explained.

Chilimina is determined to continue finding the back of the net and help his team achieve their targets for the remainder of the season.

“My goal is to help the team achieve its goals and ambitions. I just want to thank the management, the technical bench, my teammates, and my fans at large for their support and encouragement they show me,” Chilimina said.
