David Solopi, head coach of River Plate Football Club, a team in National League One, says the mid-season break will aid him in improving the squad’s conversion rate.

With 29 points, River Plate placed fourth at the end of the season’s first round.

The team’s record in their first season in the National League is eight wins, five draws, and five losses.

According to Solopi, there are various aspects in the team that require attention, specifically focusing on enhancing the team’s conversion rate.

He highlights the team’s achievement of maintaining four clean sheets in their recent matches, underscoring the defensive strength and stability.

“There’s a lot of areas we as a team have to work on. We are creating chances, but we are not barring them. But at the end of the day, we are not conceding goals. So, it’s a positive to our team,” Solopi said.

Despite collecting 12 points from their last four matches since he took charge, Solopi emphasizes his strategy of approaching each game with a focused mindset.

“I thank God that we are going for a recess. We had too many injuries. But by and large, it’s every coach’s dream to go to a new team, a new assignment, and then collect 12 points in 4 games,” Solopi said.

“I take each game as it comes. Look, our job is a performance-based [one]. Today, you are here. For me, it is to get into the player developments. I want the players to understand the correct methods of football, and you play the best football that they can.

“It will be something that I don’t have control over, but we are going to keep on improving our game each game that we play.”
