ZIFA has confirmed dates for the Warriors’ upcoming matches in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. Zimbabwe is scheduled to face Rwanda away on November 15 and Nigeria at home on November 19.

However, both matches are going to be played at Huye Stadium in Rwanda, as Zimbabwe has no CAF-approved stadium.

There was also a proposal to host the match against the Super Eagles in Nigeria and that stirred debate amongst stakeholders.

Some felt it was much better to host a star-studded Nigerian side in one of the country’s neighbouring countries to give the Warriors a better feel of home advantage.

The match against Rwanda will be the first competitive Zimbabwe will be involved in after the lifting of the FIFA ban.

Baltemor Brito has been appointed as the Warriors’ coach and has already overseen a friendly match against neighboring Botswana. The match ended in a one-all draw goal in regulation time before losing it on penalties.

Zimbabwe recently had its FIFA ban lifted. They were barred in February 2022 after the country’s government-appointed Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC), which was suspended by Zifa.

Their return sees them compete in the World Cup qualifiers. They are in Group E alongside Nigeria, South Africa, Benin, Zimbabwe, Rwanda, Lesotho
