Newcastle United e secured qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League for the first time in 20 years after they drew 0-0 with relegation-battlers Leicester City on Monday night.
The Magpies, who are four points ahead of fifth-placed Liverpool and one point ahead of fourth-placed Manchester United, qualified with one game remaining.
However, reacting to the result, Newcastle boss Eddie Howe described his players as unbelievable for their outstanding performances throughout the season.
“It’s a big relief, an amazing night to see the supporters react, it’s incredible,” Howe said after the match.
“It certainly wasn’t top four. You always have to hope and dream…. But we didn’t feel we were ready for that after battling relegation,” he added. ” It was about consolidating and becoming a better team and not having that flirtation with relegation. The lads have been unbelievable, their mentality, their attitude.

The former Bournemouth coach said he was happy with the progress made by the team so far and looks forward to bringing silverware to St. James Park.
“I want success massively for this football club. The only difficult thing is that although you feel like you have achieved something great there is no trophy. We want to bring silverware here in the future,” stated Howe.
Newcastle United will visit Chelsea on Sunday for their last Premier League match of the season. They will look to hold on to their third place in the league standings.
