English Premier League side Manchester United has sacked their head coach Erik Ten Hag following their 1-2 defeat to West Ham United on Sunday.
“Erik ten Hag has left his role as Manchester United men’s first-team manager,” United announced on Monday afternoon in a statement.
“We are grateful to Erik for everything he has done during his time with us and wish him well for the future.”
The Dutch coach was hired in April 2022 and led the club to two domestic titles, winning the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024.
The club has also announced that Ruud van Nistelrooy will take over as interim head coach, assisted by the current coaching staff, while a permanent head coach is sought.
Ten Hag leaves United in 14th place, with 11 points from 9 games, three wins and four losses.
