Following Gift Siame’s move to Club Deportivo Legañes in Spain in August this year, another Zambian striker, Marcel Zimba, has also joined Bulgarian Premier League club Botev Plovdiv for an undisclosed period and a fee from Atletico Lusaka.
The club unveiled the 18-year-old on Monday morning.
“Offensive footballer Marcel Zimba is the latest addition to Botev (Plovdiv). Born on April 11, 2006, in Zambia, the talent has been part of the club since the summer transfer window, and now we welcome him officially. He joins the canaries from Atletico Lusaka and will be another option for the team’s attack,” the club said in a statement.
According to Atletico Lusaka, Zimba will make his debut for Botev Plovdiv in January. This comes after taking a break for personal reasons.
He expressed his excitement about joining the team.
“I am thrilled to join Botev. This is a tribute to my late mother,” he said. “I want to express my gratitude to Athletico Lusaka for shaping my football career and to my agent, Nir Karin, for facilitating this transfer.”
Atletico Lusaka, through agent Nir Karin, has continued to export young players to Europe. Siame, also 18, signed a five-year contract with Club Deportivo Legañes in the Spanish La Liga in August.
