Red Star Belgrade is set to send Zambian midfielder Kings Kangwa on a five-month loan to Belgian topflight club KV Kortrijk.

Kangwa joined Red Star on a four-year contract in July 2022 from Russian Premier League Arsenal Tula.

The 24-year-old, who has been sidelined from the Red Star squad for the majority of the current season, has 12 goals and 9 assists in 56 appearances for the Serbian side in all competitions since joining them.

Bolanews sources have revealed that negotiations between Kortrijk and Red Star have reached an advanced stage. A deal might be reached before midnight.

Kangwa began his career at Lusaka-based club Happy Hearts. In 2017, he signed for Israeli club Hapoel Be’er Sheva, before returning to Happy Hearts in 2018. Ahead of the 2019 Zambian Super League season, Kangwa signed for Buildcon.

He later joined Arsenal Tula where he made 19 appearances and scored four goals in his last season before moving to Serbia.

Kangwa was part of Zambia’s squad that was eliminated in the group stage at the Africa Cup of Nations(AFCON).

He scored against DR Congo in Zambia’s opening match at the AFCON, which ended in a one-all draw.
