Belgian top-flight side KV Kortrijk has confirmed the signing of Zambian midfielder Kings Kangwa from Red Star Belgrade (Crvena Zvezda).

Kangwa has signed a 5-month loan deal with the option of a permanent deal and will travel to Belgium next week to be officially unveiled to the fans.

Fashion Sakala and Emmanuel Band previously played in the Belgian league with KV Oostende.

Others include Zambian legends Kalusha Bwalya, Charles Musonda, and Joel Bwalya.

Kangwa joined Red Star on a four-year contract in July 2022 from Russian Premier League Arsenal Tula.

The 24-year-old has 12 goals and 9 assists in 56 appearances for the Serbian side in all competitions since joining them.

Serbian giants Red Star Belgrade have rejected English Premier League side Nottingham Forest's €3 million bid for Zambian midfielder Kings Kangwa, Bolanews sources have revealed.

However, he was shelved from the Red Star starting eleven for the majority of the current season, having only been unused in eight consecutive games.

It is understood that the player agreed to join the Belgian side after being assured of game time.

Kangwa’s European career continues

Kangwa began his career at Lusaka-based club Happy Hearts. In 2017, he signed for Israeli club Hapoel Be’er Sheva, before returning to Happy Hearts in 2018. Ahead of the 2019 Zambian Super League season, Kangwa signed for Buildcon.

He later joined Arsenal Tula, where he made 19 appearances and scored four goals in his last season before moving to Serbia.

Kangwa was part of Zambia’s squad that was eliminated in the group stage at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

He scored against DR Congo in Zambia’s opening match at the AFCON, which ended in a one-all draw.

Kangwa will look to revive his career in Europe but he has a huge task ahead to help Kortrijk survive relegation.

They are currently sitting at the rock bottom of the Belgian league, with only ten rounds left.
