Zambian defender Frankie Musonda has rejoined English seventh-tier side St Albans City FC on an 18-month contract after spending the past year with Bahrain SC.

Musonda is no stranger to the Saints, having first joined the club on a three-month loan spell in October 2019 before returning for another loan stint in March 2020.

Before his initial move to St Albans, Musonda came through the ranks at Luton Town, where he spent much of his early career. He made his first-team debut on January 23, 2016, and went on to make 15 senior appearances for the Hatters.

Speaking on his previous spell at the club and his return to Clarence Park, Musonda said:

“I’m very thankful to St Albans for giving me that opportunity to join at the start of my career. The move gave me the foundations to really kick on and understand how to play men’s football. I enjoyed my time here thoroughly; I’ve always kept and eye on the team and there are people like Zane that are still here now who I know well. For the club to give me another chance now is something I’m very thankful for.”

Since leaving Hertfordshire in 2020, Musonda has gained valuable experience across different leagues. He joined Scottish Championship side Raith Rovers before moving to Ayr United, where he made a combined 99 appearances in Scotland’s second tier.

Most recently, the Zambia international enjoyed a successful spell with Bahrain SC, establishing himself as a regular in the team throughout the campaign.
