Former Chipolopolo Boys head coach Milutin Sredojevic believes Zambia has a chance to progress to the knockout stages of the African Nations Championship tournament.

Zambia kick-started their CHAN tournament campaign on a poor note, losing 2-0 to the DR Congo on Thursday night.

The DRC, two times CHAN winners, outclassed the Chipolopolo Boys. Micho took Zambia to the 2020 CHAN tournament in Cameroon.

He has been to four CHAN tournaments as head coach, though he has not won the title before.

However, featuring on ZNBC’s Radio 4 sports program in a telephone interview, Micho said the team has a mountain to climb in their next fixtures.

“In a tournament where you have five teams, if you lose the first match, you are putting yourself strongly on the back foot, and now you have to catch up slowly with Angola, Morocco, and home team Kenya; it will be very hard,” he said.

Micho while with the Cranes of Uganda.

Meanwhile, the Serbian wolf feels the team still has a chance to redeem themselves.

“However, they are owing to redeem themselves in the three remaining matches against Angola, Morocco, and Kenya; they still have a chance, though narrow, to pass through. I personally believe they will bounce back in the matches ahead, so I wish them all the best,” concluded Micho.

The Chipolopolo Boys will take on Angola on Sunday to revive their hopes of securing a place in the next stage of the tournament.
