In the first preliminary round of the 2024–25 CAF Confederation Cup, Zesco United will play Zimbabwean side Dynamos football club. Assistant coach Tenant Chilumba says he expects a difficult match.
Zesco will welcome the Glamour Boys in Ndola one week after the first leg in Zimbabwe in the weekend of August 16–18, 2024.
Winner of the two legs will face winner between Forester Football Club of the Seychelles and Orapa United of Botswana.
Reacting to the draws, Chilumba noted that Dynamos, sixth placed in the current season of the Zimbabwean Premier Soccer League, will not be an easy opponent.
Chilumba said the DeMbare are an experienced side that has done well in CAF interclub competitions.
“It’s not an easy draw if you look at the team we will be playing,” Chilumba said. “It’s a big club, a good old team. I think they did well in the Champions League; last time they finished in the quarterfinal. We will be playing a tactical team with a big following.”
Chilumba has called for adequate preparation for the upcoming tie against the 16-time Zimbabwean champions.
“It will be tricky playing away; we just have to go and get a positive result there and finish it up in Zambia.”

“I encourage the boys to work hard; we are in pre-season, and this is when we have to plan. It will depend on the war we are going to come out of preseason,” he concluded.
