Zesco United’s coach, George Lwandamina, is confident that his club can defeat Dynamos of Zimbabwe and brighten their chances of qualifying for the 2024–25 CAF Confederation Cup group stages.

United was defeated by Tanaka Shandirwa’s goal in the 31st minute last weekend, and the Ndola based side will need to reverse the outcome in order to advance to the second preliminary round.

“It’s a do-or-die game, being a qualifier to the next round, that’s how it becomes important for us. We have to raise the bar of Zambian football not just Zesco, so we are the servants of football and that’s why I had to come back (to Zesco),” Lwandamina told the media at a pre-match press conference.

“They (Dynamos) are tactically good, but I am sure we have to do more than what we did in Gaborone if we are to go past them, and I am sure the players are ready to do that.”

“We have to do our business on the pitch. I know fans are also important, they are the 12th player, but when you don’t have fans, you still have to play. When you have more fans, you still have to play and do your business,” Lwandamina concluded.

Benedict Chepeshi spoke of the morale in camp and the team’s desire to overturn the result.

“We have to play as a team like we did in Gaborone, create more chances than we created in the first leg, so the most important thing is for us to build each other and do our level best on Saturday. The mood is very okay in camp, we have done our home and had an entire week to prepare for the game,” Chepeshi said.
