Former Napsa Stars head coach Muhammad Fathi has offered key advice to ZESCO United and Power Dynamos as the two Zambian sides prepare for their CAF group stage campaigns.

Power Dynamos were drawn in Group A of the CAF Champions League, where they will face Pyramids, Rivers United, and RSB Berkane. ZESCO United, competing in Group D of the CAF Confederation Cup, will take on Al Masry, Kaizer Chiefs, and Zamalek.

Fathi, who guided Napsa Stars to a historic CAF Confederation Cup group stage qualification, stressed that both teams must leverage modern tools to improve their chances. He encouraged the clubs to adopt sports-technology systems to enhance player performance and assess opponents.

“In modern football, technology is no longer optional. Using GPS tracking and detailed video analysis can help the technical bench understand their strengths and exploit the weaknesses of their opponents,” Fathi said.

He also highlighted the importance of goal conversion, noting that CAF competitions are often decided by fine margins.

“Football is a game of moments. Power and ZESCO need to be ruthless in front of goal. Every chance counts at this level, and the teams must sharpen their frontline and bury opportunities when they come,” he advised.

With both groups expected to be highly competitive, Fathi emphasized that thorough preparation will be the deciding factor.

“It will be a very tough season, but nothing is impossible. With proper planning, disciplined training and smart tactical approaches, both teams can go far,” he added.

ZESCO United and Power Dynamos begin their CAF group stage campaigns this coming weekend.
