In the last moments of stoppage time, Pyramids FC tied the first leg of the CAF Champions League final at 1-1 all, wasting Mamelodi Sundowns’ home field advantage.

In the last minute of stoppage time, Pyramids came in to square the score after Brazilian shooter Lucas Ribeiro had put Sundowns ahead at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria.

Next Sunday, Sundowns will travel to Egypt for the second leg of the Champions League final in an attempt to win the league’s second-ever championship.

Iqraam Rayners fired a shot to force a stop from the Pyramids keeper within the first ten minutes of Sundowns’ swift transition from defense to attack, demonstrating their awareness that they would need to take use of their home field advantage.

The home team kept adjusting its range and testing the Pyramids’ defense. The home team would need to attack with much more audacity, but Arthur Sales had a shot from outside the box.

As the first half went on, Matthews and Rayners had the proper idea, but the outcome was a free kick that ended in nothing.

Sundowns had the opportunity; Rayners’ technique failed him when he had the ideal chance to win the match, but the execution needed improvement.

Pyramids Break The Hearts Of Sundowns Supporters.

As the second half got underway, Pyramids nearly caught their hosts dozing off after spending the whole of the first half playing second fiddle. Ibrahim Adel had plenty of room to bury his opportunity, but he was unsuccessful when it mattered most.

The Brazilian made sure he was on target for the Brazilians and their hordes of supporters in the Loftus stands when he came available for a second try.

Sundowns made the switch with plenty of time left in the match in an attempt to protect some of the starters, namely Rayners and Sales, by adding finishers Peter Shalulile and Neo Maema.

for until the last minute of stoppage time, when Pyramids called for an equalizer to crush the hearts of the thousands of Sundowns fans present, everything appeared to be going according to plan. Next Sunday, the action shifts to Egypt.
