The Power Dynamos hierarchy has stated that they are taking their CAF Champions League preliminary round tie against the Ivorian side Asec Mimosa very seriously.
Having won the league last season, Power will represent Zambia in the Champions League, while Zesco United will play in the Confederation Cup, the Second-Tier Competition.
On September 20, Power will host Asec at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium for the first leg before traveling to play away seven days later.
James Sakala, an executive committee member, has said the club has serious ambitions for this season’s Champions League.
“We are taking this game very seriously as a club as you know Zambian football we haven’t done very well in terms of continental football,” Sakala said.
He said this when he appeared on Phoenix FM’s Full Time program on Monday.
“It is our desire as a club to take the nation back to the glory days by making sure that we qualify for the group stage and maybe we go even further,” Sakala said.
Sakala called on supporters from different clubs to rally behind Power Dynamos and support the club, as this is a national assignment.
