On Saturday, the Super League of Malawi (SULOM) appeared before the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) Disciplinary Committee to respond to numerous charges against league managers.

On June 12, FAM summoned Sulom over an incident at Kamuzu Stadium during the FDH Bank Premiership launch when the league organizers fixed a match at a stadium against the FA’s approval.

SULOM, was slapped with five charges which included failing to take steps to prevent infringements of FAM statutes, directives, and decisions of FAM contrary to Article 3(1) of the SULOM Constitution.

The other charge was failure to comply fully with duties arising from statutes, regulations, and decisions of FAM contrary to Article 16(p) of the FAM Statutes.

A source told Bola News that FAM was not ready for the case, hence pushing the hearing for a later date.

He said, “When the meeting started, Sulom told the FAM representative available that after their preliminary objection, they discovered that FAM used wrong acts in their first charge and others“

“For example, FAM had quoted wrong articles that talked of women’s football and were not related to matters they indicated. Sulom noted that FAM used wrong acts on the charges leveled against Sulom,” said the source.

The source added that FAM members asked for a break, and when they regrouped, FAM officials told Sulom representatives that they would shift the hearing to a later date to give them room to present a proper case.

On April 23, 2026, FAM banned the hosting of league matches at Kamuzu Stadium pending inspection and approval, but Sulom disregarded the directive to stage a match between Mighty Wanderers FC and Karonga United FC at the same stadium.
