Simba SC defeated Horoya 7-0 in the CAF Champions League at the Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium, with Zambian international Clatous Chama scoring a hat-trick and assisting.

Chama got the first goal in the 10th minute from a free kick before Congolese striker Jean Baleke doubled the lead in the 32nd.

The Zambian international converted from the penalty spot just before halftime, giving the hosts a 3-0 lead at the break.

Chama also set up Sadio Kanoute who made it 4. In the 65th minute, Baleke grabbed his second in the game.

The Zambian later netted the sixth goal for Simba in the 70th minute to complete his hat-trick while Kanoute added the icing on the cake with the seventh goal in the 87th minute.

The Tanzanian giants qualified for the quarterfinals with a game to spare against Raja Casablanca.

Meanwhile, in what many have described as a response to his latest call-up to the National Team, Chama in his tweet seemingly reacted to fans who have labeled him unpatriotic.

He wrote: “My name is Chama. I come from Ndola-Zambia. I love football.”

Fans criticized the Simba SC midfielder for failing to honour his last national team call-up, which he claimed was due to a family commitment.

Chama will be hoping to replicate his club performance for the national team after being called up for the back-to-back AFCON qualifiers against Lesotho, which will be played this Thursday.
