Chipolopolo and Al Fayha forward Fashion Sakala says Zambia is ready to face any team in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) next year.
Sakala has disclosed that he is eager to play at the continent’s biggest football showpiece after a long wait.
“Honestly, our squad is ready,” Sakala who recently moved to Saudi Arabia from Rangers FC told FAZ media. “We really worked hard; the team looks good. I think we are ready to meet any team.”
“We were talking about it [AFCON Draws] today with some of my teammates. We don’t really care [who we will be drawn against].
Sakala is one of the players who graduated from the 2017 U-20 AFCON-winning team and will be making his debut appearance at the AFCON next year.
Despite not being able to score in his last two matches for Zambia, Sakala has netted four goals in nine matches in the Saudi Pro League.

He last scored against Lesotho in the AFCON qualifiers and provided an assist in the return leg.
Zambia will know their AFCON 2023 opponents in a draw that will be conducted tonight in Ivory Coast and Sakala has warned their yet-to-be-known opponents at the tournament.
“We have a very good squad that is ready to face any opponent. If they think we are easy to beat, that’s a lie; otherwise, a lot of teams will be surprised.”
They will also be in action against Egypt in an international friendly match to be played in Abu Dhabi.
